The Exhibitionist
grown-ups
The play begins in a prison where a plain-spoken and compassionate social worker tries to find the reasons for the prisoner’s exhibitionism and help him, both professionally and as a fellow human being. Naturally, they get tangled into an intimate relationship which is soon subject to interventions from the perverted psychiatrist and his ex-wife, an unfulfilled psychoanalyst, each with their frustrations and their own private interests. This love polygon is expanded further when the prison guard joins in. Then, unusual and momentary unions are sealed, everyone is in it for themselves, to primarily solve their own problems. This is where the play enters the field of psychodrama and the problem of transference love, a term so dear to psychoanalysis.
