Tone Partljič

Ljubstava, Far Away and in the Mud

A stage adaptation of France Forstnerič’s collection of poems
Total cast size: 8 (6 f, 2 m)
evanescence, existence, searching

Poet talks to different people who have accompanied him on his path through life. His wife and him reminisce about their youth and discover that the circle of life is closing.  He revives his memories through dialogue with his girlfriend, sister, lover, woman, mother and mainly his father. All his memories are linked to Ljubstava which is “far away and in the mud” and can be interpreted as a metaphor for the rural world. Even though this world is depicted as hell, it is also the poet’s home and the place where the truth of our existence and the very essence of the world are most easily accessible.
