Olga is a divorced professor of Slovenian language. She lives with her grown-up daughter Maša who is devastated by the break-up of her relationship. Aided by her friends, Olga tries to convince her daughter that she doesn’t really need a man. Soon, Olga gets involved with her ex-student and Maša starts a romantic relationship with a much older co-worker. The situation gets even more complicated when one day, as the mother and daughter entertain their men at their house, Olga’s friends turn up and soon the characters form two entirely new couples.
