The central theme of this comedy is envy, so often present even in the world of culture and the arts. The wife of the main protagonist, poet Jože Mlakar, is adamant that her husband should be the next recipient of the Ribič Award for poetry. To reach her goal, she is willing to do anything, but in the end, she has to accept defeat as her attempts end in a pitiful failure. This makes her realise that awards, fame and even poetry are all worthless.
